CHAPTER 25

The Universal Gateway of the Bodhisattva Perceiver of the World’s Sounds

At that time the bodhisattva Inexhaustible Intent immediately rose from his seat, bared his right shoulder, pressed his palms together and, facing the Buddha, spoke these words: “World-Honored One, this bodhisattva Perceiver of the World’s Sounds—why is he called Perceiver of the World’s Sounds?”
The Buddha said to Bodhisattva Inexhaustible Intent: “Good man, suppose there are immeasurable hundreds, thousands, ten thousands, millions of living beings who are undergoing various trials and suffering. If they hear of this bodhisattva Perceiver of the World’s Sounds and single-mindedly call his name, then at once he will perceive the sound of their voices and they will all gain deliverance from their trials.
“If someone, holding fast to the name of Bodhisattva Perceiver of the World’s Sounds, should enter a great fire, the fire could not burn him. This would come about because of this bodhisattva’s authority and supernatural power. If one were washed away by a great flood and called upon his name, one would immediately find oneself in a shallow place.
“Suppose there were a hundred, a thousand, ten thousand, a million living beings who, seeking for gold, silver, lapis lazuli, seashell, agate, coral, amber, pearls, and other treasures, set out on the great sea. And suppose a fierce wind should blow their ship off course and it drifted to the land of rakshasa demons. If among those people there is even just one who calls the name p.340of Bodhisattva Perceiver of the World’s Sounds, then all those people will be delivered from their troubles with the rakshasas. This is why he is called Perceiver of the World’s Sounds.
“If a person who faces imminent threat of attack should call the name of Bodhisattva Perceiver of the World’s Sounds, then the swords and staves wielded by his attackers would instantly shatter into so many pieces and he would be delivered.
“Though enough yakshas and rakshasas to fill all the major world system should try to come and torment a person, if they hear him calling the name of Bodhisattva Perceiver of the World’s Sounds, then these evil demons will not even be able to look at him with their evil eyes, much less do him harm.
“Suppose there is a person who, whether guilty or not guilty, has had his body imprisoned in fetters and chains, cangue and lock. If he calls the name of Bodhisattva Perceiver of the World’s Sounds, then all his bonds will be severed and broken and at once he will gain deliverance.
“Suppose, in a place filled with all the evil-hearted bandits of the major world system, there is a merchant leader who is guiding a band of merchants carrying valuable treasures over a steep and dangerous road, and that one man among them shouts out these words: ‘Good men, do not be afraid! You must single-mindedly call on the name of Bodhisattva Perceiver of the World’s Sounds. This bodhisattva can grant fearlessness to living beings. If you call his name, you will be delivered from these evil-hearted bandits!’ When the band of merchants hear this, they all together raise their voices, saying, ‘Hail to the bodhisattva Perceiver of the World’s Sounds!’ And because they call his name, they are at once able to gain deliverance. Inexhaustible Intent, the authority and supernatural power of the bodhisattva mahasattva Perceiver of the World’s Sounds are as mighty as this!
“If there should be living beings beset by numerous lusts
and cravings, let them think with constant reverence of Bodhisattva Perceiver of the World’s Sounds and then they can shed their desires. If they have great wrath and ire, let them think with constant reverence of Bodhisattva Perceiver of the World’s p.341Sounds and then they can shed their ire. If they have great ignorance and foolishness, let them think with constant reverence of Bodhisattva Perceiver of the World’s Sounds and they can rid themselves of foolishness.
“Inexhaustible Intent, the bodhisattva Perceiver of the World’s Sounds possesses great authority and supernatural powers, as I have described, and can confer many benefits. For this reason, living beings should constantly keep the thought of him in mind.
“If a woman wishes to give birth to a male child, she should offer obeisance and alms to Bodhisattva Perceiver of the World’s Sounds and then she will bear a son blessed with merit, virtue, and wisdom. And if she wishes to bear a daughter, she will bear one with all the marks of comeliness, one who, having planted the roots of virtue in the past, is loved and respected by many persons.
“Inexhaustible Intent, the bodhisattva Perceiver of the World’s Sounds has power to do all this. If there are living beings who pay respect and obeisance to Bodhisattva Perceiver of the World’s Sounds, their good fortune will not be fleeting or vain. Therefore living beings should all accept and uphold the name of Bodhisattva Perceiver of the World’s Sounds.
“Inexhaustible Intent, suppose there is a person who accepts and upholds the names of as many bodhisattvas as there are sands in sixty-two million Ganges Rivers, and for as long as his present body lasts, he offers them alms in the form of food and drink, clothing, bedding, and medicines. What is your opinion? Would this good man or good woman gain many benefits, or would he not?”
Inexhaustible Intent replied, “They would be very many, World-Honored One.”
The Buddha said: “Suppose also that there is a person who accepts and upholds the name of Bodhisattva Perceiver of the World’s Sounds and even just once offers him obeisance and alms. The good fortune gained by these two persons would be exactly equal and without difference. For a hundred, a thousand, ten thousand, a million kalpas it would never be exhausted or p.342run out. Inexhaustible Intent, if one accepts and upholds the name of Bodhisattva Perceiver of the World’s Sounds, one will gain the benefit of merit and virtue that is as immeasurable and boundless as this!”
Bodhisattva Inexhaustible Intent said to the Buddha, “World-Honored One, Bodhisattva Perceiver of the World’s Sounds—how does he come and go in this saha world? How does he preach the Law for the sake of living beings? How does the power of expedient means apply in his case?”
The Buddha said to Bodhisattva Inexhaustible Intent: “Good man, if there are living beings in the land who need someone in the body of a buddha in order to be saved, Bodhisattva Perceiver of the World’s Sounds immediately manifests himself in a buddha body and preaches the Law for them. If they need someone in a pratyekabuddha’s body in order to be saved, immediately he manifests a pratyekabuddha’s body and preaches the Law to them. If they need a voice-hearer to be saved, immediately he becomes a voice-hearer and preaches the Law for them. If they need King Brahma to be saved, immediately he becomes King Brahma and preaches the Law for them. If they need the lord Shakra to be saved, immediately he becomes the lord Shakra and preaches the Law for them. If they need the heavenly being Freedom to be saved, immediately he becomes the heavenly being Freedom and preaches the Law for them. If they need the heavenly being Great Freedom to be saved, immediately he becomes the heavenly being Great Freedom and preaches the Law for them. If they need a great general of heaven to be saved, immediately he becomes a great general of heaven and preaches the Law for them. If they need Vaishravana to be saved, immediately he becomes Vaishravana and preaches the Law for them. If they need a petty king to be saved, immediately he becomes a petty king and preaches the Law for them. If they need a rich man to be saved, immediately he becomes a rich man and preaches the Law for them. If they need a householder to be saved, immediately he becomes a householder and preaches the Law for them. If they need a chief minister to be saved, immediately he becomes a chief minister and preaches the Law for them. If they need a p.343Brahman to be saved, immediately he becomes a Brahman and preaches the Law for them. If they need a monk, a nun, a layman believer, or a laywoman believer to be saved, immediately he becomes a monk, a nun, a layman believer, or a laywoman believer and preaches the Law for them. If they need the wife of a rich man, of a householder, a chief minister, or a Brahman to be saved, immediately he becomes the wife and preaches the Law for them. If they need a young boy or a young girl to be saved, immediately he becomes a young boy or a young girl and preaches the Law for them. If they need a heavenly being, a dragon, a yaksha, a gandharva, an asura, a garuda, a kimnara, a mahoraga, a human or nonhuman being to be saved, immediately he becomes all of these and preaches the Law for them. If they need a vajra-bearing god to be saved, immediately he becomes a vajra-bearing god and preaches the Law for them.
“Inexhaustible Intent, this bodhisattva Perceiver of the World’s Sounds has succeeded in acquiring benefits such as these and, taking on a variety of different forms, goes about among the lands saving living beings. For this reason you and the others should single-mindedly offer alms to Bodhisattva Perceiver of the World’s Sounds. This bodhisattva mahasattva Perceiver of the World’s Sounds can bestow fearlessness on those who are in fearful, pressing, or difficult circumstances. That is why in this saha world everyone calls him Bestower of Fearlessness.”
Bodhisattva Inexhaustible Intent said to the Buddha, “World-Honored One, now I must offer alms to Bodhisattva Perceiver of the World’s Sounds.”
Then he took from his neck a necklace adorned with numerous precious gems, worth a hundred or a thousand taels of gold, and presented it to the bodhisattva, saying, “Sir, please accept this necklace of precious gems as a Dharma gift.”
At that time Bodhisattva Perceiver of the World’s Sounds was unwilling to accept the gift.
Inexhaustible Intent spoke once more to Bodhisattva Perceiver of the World’s Sounds, saying, “Sir, out of compassion for us, please accept this necklace.”
Then the Buddha said to Bodhisattva Perceiver of the World’s p.344Sounds, “Out of compassion for this bodhisattva Inexhaustible Intent and for the four kinds of believers, the heavenly beings, dragons, yakshas, gandharvas, asuras, garudas, kimnaras, mahoragas, the human and nonhuman beings, you should accept this necklace.”
Thereupon Bodhisattva Perceiver of the World’s Sounds, having compassion for the four kinds of believers and the heavenly beings and dragons, the human and nonhuman beings, accepted the necklace and, dividing it into two parts, presented one part to Shakyamuni Buddha and presented the other to the tower of the buddha Many Treasures.
[The Buddha said], “Inexhaustible Intent, these are the kinds of freely exercised supernatural powers that Bodhisattva Perceiver of the World’s Sounds displays in his comings and goings in the saha world.”
At that time Bodhisattva Inexhaustible Intent posed this question in verse form:

The world-honored one is replete with wonderful features.
I now ask you once again
for what reason that buddha’s son
is named Perceiver of the World’s Sounds?
The honored one endowed with wonderful features
replied to Inexhaustible Intent in verse:
Listen to the actions of Perceiver of Sounds,
how aptly he responds in various quarters.
His vast oath is deep as the ocean;
kalpas pass but it remains unfathomable.
He has attended many thousands and millions of buddhas,
setting forth his great pure vow.
I will describe him in outline for you—
listen to his name, observe his body,
bear him in mind, not passing the time vainly,
for he can wipe out all kinds of sufferings.
Suppose someone should conceive a wish to harm you,
should push you into a great pit of fire.
Think on the power of that Perceiver of Sounds
p.345and the pit of fire will change into a pond!
If you should be cast adrift on the vast ocean,
menaced by dragons, fish, and various demons,
think on the power of that Perceiver of Sounds
and the billows and waves cannot drown you!
Suppose you are on the peak of Mount Sumeru
and someone pushes you off.
Think on the power of that Perceiver of Sounds
and you will hang in midair like the sun!
Suppose you are pursued by evil men
who wish to throw you down from a diamond mountain.
Think on the power of that Perceiver of Sounds
and they cannot harm a hair of you!
Suppose you are surrounded by evil-hearted bandits,
each brandishing a knife to wound you.
Think on the power of that Perceiver of Sounds
and at once all will be swayed by compassion!
Suppose you encounter trouble with the king’s law,
face punishment, about to forfeit your life.
Think on the power of that Perceiver of Sounds
and the executioner’s sword will be broken to bits!
Suppose you are imprisoned in cangue and lock,
hands and feet bound by fetters and chains.
Think on the power of that Perceiver of Sounds
and they will fall off, leaving you free!
Suppose with curses and various poisonous herbs
someone should try to injure you.
Think on the power of that Perceiver of Sounds
and the injury will rebound upon the originator.
Suppose you encounter evil rakshasas,
poison dragons, and various demons.
Think on the power of that Perceiver of Sounds
and then none of them will dare to harm you.
If evil beasts should encircle you,
their sharp fangs and claws inspiring terror,
think on the power of that Perceiver of Sounds
and they will scamper away in boundless retreat.
p.346If lizards, snakes, vipers, scorpions
threaten you with poison breath that sears like flame,
think on the power of that Perceiver of Sounds
and, hearing your voice, they will flee of themselves.
If clouds should bring thunder, and lightning strike,
if hail pelts or drenching rain comes down,
think on the power of that Perceiver of Sounds
and at that moment they will vanish away.
If living beings encounter weariness or peril,
immeasurable suffering pressing them down,
the power of Perceiver of Sounds’ wonderful wisdom
can save them from the sufferings of the world.
He is endowed with transcendental powers
and widely practices wisdom and expedient means.
Throughout the lands in the ten directions
there is no region where he does not manifest himself.
In many different kinds of evil circumstances,
in the realms of hell, hungry spirits, or beasts,
the sufferings of birth, aging, sickness, and death—
all these he bit by bit wipes out.
He of the true gaze, the pure gaze,
the gaze of great and encompassing wisdom,
the gaze of pity, the gaze of compassion—
constantly we implore him, constantly look up in reverence.
His pure light, free of blemish,
is a sun of wisdom dispelling all darknesses.
He can quell the wind and fire of misfortune
and everywhere bring light to the world.
The precepts from his compassionate body shake us like thunder,
the wonder of his pitying mind is like a great cloud.
He sends down the sweet dew, the Dharma rain,
to quench the flames of earthly desires.
When lawsuits bring you before the officials,
when terrified in the midst of an army,
think on the power of that Perceiver of Sounds
p.347and hatred in all its forms will be dispelled.
Wonderful sounds, Perceiver of the World’s Sounds,
brahma sounds, the sea tide sound—
they surpass the other sounds of the world;
therefore you should constantly think on them
from thought to thought never entertaining doubt!
Perceiver of the World’s Sounds, pure sage—
to those in suffering, in danger of death,
he can offer aid and support.
Endowed with all benefits,
he views living beings with compassionate eyes.
The sea of his accumulated blessings is immeasurable;
therefore you should bow your head to him!

At that time the bodhisattva Earth Holder immediately rose from his seat, advanced, and said to the Buddha, “World-Honored One, if there are living beings who hear this chapter on Bodhisattva Perceiver of the World’s Sounds, on the freedom of his actions, his transcendental powers that manifest a universal gateway, it should be known that the benefits these persons will gain are not few!”
When the Buddha preached this chapter on the Universal Gateway, a multitude of eighty-four thousand persons in the assembly all conceived a determination to attain the unparalleled state of supreme perfect enlightenment.

Red Skywalker is your Conscious Self – who you are and who you are becoming. Red Skywalker is the skywalker, the time/space traveller who can jump dimensions to assist you in realizing heaven on Earth. Red Skywalker is unlimited in form but often chooses the form of the angelic messenger.

A person who embodies cosmic wisdom may be known as a sky-walker, sage or bodhisattva. When others see such light in human form, they feel the vibration of heaven. This vibration may be embodied by you or experienced with a guru, master, an energy such as Red Skywalker, or in a ‘chance’ encounter with an extraordinary person.

An encounter with the energy of Red Skywalker can spark a deep yearning within you for reunion with the Source. Yet from this place of love and compassion, you also have a desire (embodied in physical form) to serve the light. This is the place in you that has the courage to fully express unconditional love, the depths of your being. Red Skywalker asks you to live the new myth by bringing this heaven to Earth in your daily life. As this reality is lived, it touches and awakens the same truth in others: “They kingdom come, Thy will be done, on Earth as it is in heaven.”

Red Skywalker represents balance in your life – not static balance, but a dynamic equilibrium that includes both your present expression and your starseeded self. In Red Skywalker’s star-glyph you see that the pillars of heaven don’t appear to touch the Earth. You are the element that appears to be missing in the star-glyph. You are the one whose expression of the light assists in drawing the pillars of heaven to Earth.

Joining these pillars in yourself can be viewed as reuniting your male and female aspects. Together, in balance, we create the pillars of the etheric temples of heaven on Earth.

The natural state of every system moves toward balance that is fluid and free, as in dance. That balance is experienced differently by each person, but it often brings a sense of steadiness or centeredness even in the midst of movement and change. When you are dancing, you can use your very state of imbalance to create the fluidity of the dance.

Red Moon is your Higher Self & Guide.

Red Moon is the cosmic seed of awakened awareness. Consume it like a fruit, and let it blossom within you. You are on the quest of self-remembrance, of Godseed. If you work with the energy of Red Moon with clear awareness and attention, an awakened state of remembrance will naturally blossom within you. Remembrance means having direct access to your expanded presence through an intrinsic perception of unity. Remembrance is your recognition of the larger pattern and your connection to it, often facilitated through dreams, art, music, colors and creative pursuits. With focused attention, meditate on Red Moon and you will receive help with self-remembrance.

Red Moon is also a beacon or transmitting station. As you open to self-remembrance, you become a beacon and receiver for cosmic consciousness. This communication creates the gradual opening of the third eye, the eye within the mononlith of self. As this eye opens and your communication becomes more refined, you will notice more signs, signals and understanding coming to you. These are all for your growth and evolution – a feedback system from which you can gain insight about your journey.

The number for Red Moon is 9, which symbolizes the recurrence of great cycles. An example of such recurrence is the periodic return of master teachers to help awaken human beings on Earth. Nine is the number of Quetzalcoatl, buddha, and Christ. Red Moon is a symbol for great teachers who have come to translate universal wisdom to humanity, to embody the awakened state of consciousness that is accessible to all. Such teachers serve as a connection to the Divine and hold the promise of full self-mastery.

Take off the veil of forgetfulness. Become the beacon of awakened awareness. As you open to self-remembrance, you will freely receive divine guidance. Be with others who support your fullest expression.

Yellow Star is your Subconscious Self and Hidden Helper. You are a starseed! You contain a holographic ‘seed packet’ of your evolution into the Mind of Light and the energy that directs you toward wholeness. This resonance offers an expanded view of the larger self and new ways of perceiving reality. Through self-acceptance, you are gifted with this journey. Yellow Star is ignition, like a cosmic milkweed explosion of resonant sparks. It is the launching pad from which you can hear the rumble of the rocket of your accelerated evolution.

The energy of Yellow Star may be experienced as a gentle rocking that becoes a floating and spiraling sensation, ending in a rush of feeling as you move into expanded reality. This sensation has been described as gently cascading fireworks, shimmering burst on the tapesty of Creation. Cascade into this unchartged perspective. Flow on the cosmic winds wherever Divinity directs, arching back to this reality wth a new experience of self.

Yellow Star’s starseeded gift is the revelation of the harmony that unites all things. Instead of just aspiring to be harmonious, become harmony. Practice harmony not just as an abstraction, but as a living reality. This practice blends different energies, thoughts, people, and processes. Act on intuitive guidance as to what to combine and when. As you begin to follow your heart, you will know the feeling of being on the return path to the stars.Yellow Star offers you the ability to hold a greatly expanded focus, a unity of awareness that encompasses aspects of the larger constellation of self. An example of this would be a simultaneous awarenss of the desires of the existential self and the truth of the Essence Self. This star harmony encompasses the greatly enlarged perspective of your starseeded self, the part within you that holds the potential of your greatest destiny.Unlike the preceding 7 tones, which were seperate and distinct, Yellow Star begins a more complex harmonic series as it completes the preceding octave. On a spiritual level, Yellow Star begins the development of higher being. The fundamental tones that occur in this series are of a more expanded frequency than those of the preceding seven tones. In this new octave, there is alignment in the harmonies of Earth and the harmonies of the stars that are now being sounded on Earth. Yellow Star is the first in a series of star harmonies that evoke accelerated growth of the starseed potential within you.

Blue Night represents your Challenge and Gift. With maturity and awareness this challenge will turn into a Focus. This is what you desire to learn in this lifetime. One indication of the shadow of Blue Night is being lost in self, being too inward and subjective. Some experience this subjectivity as depression. Yet from this place you can learn to face and free your deepest fears. Instead of resisting this process, embrace it, garnering its wisdom. Go deep inside and discover the positive intent that is held in your experience. What is it trying to show you that you have not been willing to look at? If you can go through your ‘stuckness’, you can find unexpected insights and gifts in the apparent darkness.

A great opportunity for looking within can also be found in recognizing how you judge and evaluate yourself. Self-judgement impairs access toyour own intrinsic wisdom. Judgement of how you ‘should’ be affects your process. Perhaps your conditioned beliefs have become harsh tools of comparison and classification. To “be” is not a specific goal; being is simply the innocence that is regained through acceptance of self.

Freed from judgement and labels, your journey naturally opens to growth. It is OK to make “mistakes” along your way. From life, you have created the “house” you live in and from which you see the world. Now is the time to go within and reveal your essence, to break the bonds of the old structures. In this process, it is only natural to feel vulnerable. You are breaking up the blockages and barriers around the heart of self. You are creating a new “home” in Essence Self, a sanctuary within the serenity of innocence.Self-judgment also intensifies issues of self-worth and feelings of separation. You are intrinsically worthy. Become aware of anything that suggests you are not worthy to receive all that you desire. Self-judgment can seriously hamper your evolution. Love yourself. Remember: beliefs that are ready to be transformed show you the way through their shadows. Be willing to follow your process into seeming darkness and discomfort, to find the gifts being offered there. Blue Night can help to show you that apparent enclosures and limitations are only opportunities to learn.Blue Night may also signal an unconscious fear of change, from deep core issues to the fear of life’s lessons. A unique opportunity beckons and transformation awaits; where the illusions of fear have been separated from consciousness, the gifts of integration and wholeness are found. What appears to be contraction into self will eventually bring you full circle, like the in-yang symbol, into a more fluid and expanded state. Going deep within, Blue Night teaches you its greatest truth: what is contained in darkness holds the greatest potential for light.

White World-Bridger is your Compliment – something that comes naturally to you. In this life-time you are being asked to release and surrender. Surrender is the opposite of giving up. It is freeing yourself from the desire to be in control, letting go of how you think things should be. Surrender is freedom. You are being invited to release yourself from the bondage of preconceived action, to let everything be all right as it is, so that you can live a more inspired life in the moment!

You are being asked to take action in the process of surrender and release. You are requested to die a symbolic death, to surrender your limiting beliefs. Symbolic death unveils the self by cutting away the outgrown parts of yourself that no longer serve you. In such death, ego structures fall away to reveal the garden of the true self. Look for new ways of being, new people, new ideas, and new directions that will move into the vacuum created through surrender and release. Like yeast, surrender enlivens and empowers you to experience more of life’s fullness.

Holding on to past patterns and grievances only limits the possibilities. Forgive yourself. Forgive others. Let go. Surrender whatever limits you. Face whatever you are resisting. In the experience of any loss, it is never too late to complete. Through your willingness to walk in the dark forest, insights and revelations will naturally emerge.Accept the truth of your present situation. Through accepting what is, you are free to go forward. Change and growth become easier and more natural. Each experience in this enlivened state of surrender allows for more joy.

Your Tone is Tone 4 – Self-ExistingOrder, definition, discrimination, natural cycles, meaningful alignment.

Four is the ray of measure, the alignment with natural cycles. It is the square, the base of the pyramid, the solid foundation that unifies the lines of directional force. Four is the diamond asking you to utilize tools of discrimination.

Now is the time to manifest your dream or vision. Look to natural logic, order and definition – these gifts support the whisperings of your creative spirit. You are the architect who manifests your dreams! Open the door and call forth the sacred Four. You are being brought into meaningful alignment, bringing healing into this cycle of your life.

The four directions offer you assistance in understanding universal physical laws. Use measure as a tool of consciousness to mold time, form and space. Now is the time to focus, to connect tangibly with the undefined. Take your ideas and give them discipline and form. Develop the ability to discriminate without creating separation or judgement. Channel your creative energy constructively, generating the power for practical manifestation!

The adjustment of the lower will to the Divine Will is a manifest act of evolutionary consciousness. To project a new archetype at first requires a combination of will, contemplation and visualization. Intensity of purpose is responsible for lifting you from the world of mediocrity into the pulsing world of higher consciousness.
Learning to project a new archetype or to construct a cosmic personality is a living process, growing out of conscious daily exertion and experience. It is dependent on the expression of the divine aspects in the life upon the physical plane.

Sit in a comfortable meditative posture. Keep your spine erect and body relaxed. With the body
completely still, practice a few moments of natural mind meditation. Once the mind is sufficiently
clear, direct your attention to your secret center or Svadhisthana chakra. Make it as clear and pristine
as possible, glistening and sparkling with vibrant energy. When it is pure and translucent, pulsing at
your secret center, allow it to dissolve and transform itself into an orange six-petalled lotus.
Concentrate on this area inside of your secret center chakra. This is the seat of sexual awareness and
holds a supremely powerful energy. This is also the seat of body consciousness.
In yogic tradition, the Svadhisthana is known as the substratum or basis of individual human
consciousness. It is the container of all karmas, impressions, past lives and previous experience,
or the unconscious, as it pertains specifically to the formation of the earthly personality or
circumstantial persona.
This chakra is governed by the feminine principle or Shakti Goddess Rakini (Sexuality). This
is the place that stores the most psychic blockages and karma—the collective karma of the
unconscious. We want to awaken the secret center in order to open our inner vision to the
receptivity of cosmic electricity.
When this center is finally awakened the body becomes flooded with cosmic electricity that connects
all other chakras. This is the area to transmute and re-channel the powerful sexual, or kundalini
energy into a higher form of electricity. The energy stored in this chakra can be used to vitalize the
different levels of being.
Svadhisthana affirmation: May the supramental forces gather their electroplasmic structures of spiritual
evolution and release them into the noosphere!

Level 2: Activating Radial Plasma: Kali
Breathe deeply through your nostrils and allow your awareness to flow up your nose and down into
your secret center chakra. Bring your awareness to the inner Kali plasma at the center of the chakra.
Visualize the blue symbol radiating streams of white light.
Feel the Kali plasma gathering in the secret center, accounting for the quality of intensified light
heat, which is also associated with the sexual, or kundalini energy.
Repeat the following while focusing on your secret center: “My name is the glorious lotus-born, I
catalyze the light-heat within.” Feel within yourself this light-heat, the self-generated electricity that
arises from a condition of immaculate purity.
Cover your left nostril with your left thumb and breathe deeply three times in and out through
your right nostril. Flash onto the Kali plasma and feel the intensified light-heat emanating out of
the secret center chakra. Now cover your right nostril with your right thumb and repeat the three
breaths. Focus on the Kali plasma and feel this intrinsic light-heat awareness pulsing from your secret
center chakra into your entire being. Feel the flowing streams of light and heat catalyzing your entire
system into ever more subtle spirals of radiance. This powerful energy emanates from your secret
center chakra, activating, circulating and invigorating all other chakras. You are the glorious lotus-
born, born from Father Heat and Mother Light.
Kali plasma is the link between the three light-heat sensory plasmas and the three telepathic
plasmas. It is the catalytic agent between the thermic/luminic sensory quantum and the
subatomic telepathic quantum.

Level 3: Engaging the Fourth Mental Sphere (Continuing Conscious)
Higher mind control activates fourth mental sphere.
Visualize the fourth mental sphere (continuing conscious) located in the brain above the left eye in
the left cerebral hemisphere. This mental sphere controls and governs the rear left hemisphere.
Continuing consciousness is the ability to maintain a conscious thoughtform in succession over a
long, unbroken period of time. In terms of Cosmic Science, continuing consciousness is the ability of
the 4-D “Other” to maintain direct communication with the 5-D “Higher Self” and to continue to
establish and extend realization of the whole to the 3-D “self”.
This sphere corresponds to the second time dimension: Cosmic ascension. Cosmic ascension refers
to the mastery of higher powers of telepathic perception and projection. This means we can perceive
ourselves anywhere in the universe and project to those places as necessary.
To cultivate continuing consciousness choose a thought, mental structure or series of numbers to focus
on. You might also practice maintaining projective geometries, like an icosahedron or dodecahedron.
Concentrate and fill your mind entirely with this inner perception or mental construct—keep it
filled with this thought. The moment that any other thought tries to enter the mind displace it
immediately with the thought-construct upon which you are concentrating.
Continue until you acquire the skill of being able to concentrate on anything for as long as you wish,
or until it appears before you in hallucinatory clarity. Persistent training in control of your thought-
world prepares you for supermental descent of consciousness. Analyze every thought that arises. If a
thought is not constructive or harmonious, let it go immediately. Do this as often as necessary until
it becomes second nature. When you attain this capacity you will experience higher mind control:
you are no longer the doer or the thinker, but the higher self has intervened.

Level 4: Opening the Fourth Heptad Gate (315)
Visualize the orange six-petaled lotus Svadhisthana chakra with the blue Kali
plasma superimposed over it at your sacral area. Hold this visualization and feel
the two intermingle as you chant the sacred letter HRIM as long as your breath
can sustain it.
Locate Heptad Gate 315 and the Beta-Alpha symbol on the 441 holomind perceiver. Its matrix
location is V11:H17, fifth circuit, 8th time dimension, vertical time cosmic command ascending. Now
locate it in your body at the top of your forehead, just above the third eye (see graphic at the end of
this chapter).
Visualize the Beta-Alpha hyperplasma above the blue Kali in your secret center chakra. Take
the Beta-Alpha into the fourth mental sphere in the second time dimension (cosmic ascension)
where it activates continuing conscious as higher mind control. Here is the intergalactic channel
(BMU 331) through which the Beta-Alpha hyperplasma is secreted into the rear left hemisphere of
the brain.
From the fourth mental sphere, mentally direct the Beta-Alpha hyperplasma to the secret center
chakra and impress it above the Kali seal. Hold this with four alternate nostril breaths (four times in
and out through each nostril), followed by one breath through both nostrils.
Ascend up the central column (spine), secreting this Beta-Alpha hyperplasma into all 144,000
etheric fibers of the astral body. Practice the breath of fire, rapid shallow breathing through the
nose, transmuting any blockages or obscurations into streams of crystal clear higher mind control
spreading through your entire nervous system.
Spectral, electric blue and red Beta-Alpha vibrates subtle activating force into all etheric fibers.
Descend back down central channel and leave Kali at the secret center chakra. Ascend back up
central channel and return your consciousness to the fourth mental sphere, then close and seal the
Heptad Gate at the top front of your skull. Relax and breathe slowly and deeply at least 13 times.
Harmonic UR rune 95: Galactic Art Whole Becomes Meditation of Reality.
For additional practice: Locate Heptad Gate 315 on the Hunab Ku 21. Note that it corresponds to
the Prophet, the Renewer of Culture, World Teacher; S/P Mars, Bode Number 16. Study all of the
connections (see graphic at the end of this chapter).

The Life and Teachings of Jesus
*According to the New Testament*

Jesus was born in Bethlehem*. Galilee was his childhood home.*

Jesus’ mother was Mary. Two of the Gospels, Matthew and Luke, but not Mark or John, are interpreted to allege that Joseph was Jesus’ foster father, and that Jesus’ biological father was the Holy Spirit, who mystically caused Mary to conceive, giving rise to a virgin birth. The other two Gospels, Mark and John, make no mention of Joseph at all, but in their first chapters refer to Jesus as the son of God. Nothing is certain about Jesus’ childhood or young adulthood*. Certain events are mentioned in the various Gospels, but there is no common agreement.

The Gospel of Mark reports that Jesus had brothers, that he was “Mary’s son and the brother of James, Joseph, Judas and Simon,” and also suggests that Jesus had sisters. The Jewish historian Josephus and the Christian historian Eusebius (who wrote in the 4th century but quoted much earlier sources now unavailable to us) refer to James the Just as Jesus’ brother. Some churches reject this interpretation, saying that they were Jesus’ cousins, which the Greek word for “brother” used in the Gospels would allow. The Gnostic Acts of Thomas identifies the Apostle Thomas as Jesus’ twin brother. Other churches suggest that these were step brothers, children of Joseph and a previous wife who died before Mary was betrothed to him. This tradition probably originates with the Protevangelion of James, traditionally ascribed to James the Just and certainly dated sometime in the late 1st to middle of the 2nd century.

Some have interpreted Gnostic texts like the Gospel of Philip to suggest that Mary Magdalene was the wife of Jesus. The Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox traditions do not record any wife of Jesus; the Roman Catholic hagiography of Mary Magdalene says that she traveled to France and lived the life of an ascetic. The Eastern Orthodox synaxarion says that she continued preaching the Gospel in various places, eventually settling in Ephesus to work with John the Evangelist.

The Evangelists do not describe much of Jesus’ life between birth and the beginning of his ministry, except that as a young teen he instructed the scholars in the temple. The apocryphal Infancy Gospels describe the child Jesus performing miraculous works. The 19th-century Russian scholar Nicolai Notovich suggested, based on a document he claimed to see in a Ladakh monastery, that Jesus traveled the world, including India, as an adolescent and youth, and was exposed to religious traditions such as Buddhism. However, the monastery Jesus is alleged to have studied at in India was not built until the 16th century, and there is no independent evidence confirming the story. This theory is not considered orthodox by any major Christian church.

Jesus began his public ministry some time after he was baptized by John the Baptist, who perhaps unwittingly inspired Mandaeanism. Jesus began preaching, teaching, and healing. There is no firm evidence for when his ministry started or how long it lasted. The detailed nature of Jesus’ spiritual teaching cannot be fully agreed because accounts are fragmentary and because he made extensive use of paradox, metaphor and parable; making it unclear how literally he wished to be taken and precisely what he meant.

Jesus did preach the imminent end of the current era of history, in some sense a literal end of the world as people of his time knew it; in this sense he was an apocalyptic preacher bringing a message about the imminent end of the world the Jews knew.

Jesus opposed stringent interpretations of Jewish law, and preached a more flexible understanding of the law. His teachings show an inclination to following a teleological approach, in which the spirit of the law is more important than the letter of the law, and the Gospels record him as having many disagreements with the Pharisees.

Although the interpretations of the law by the Sadducees were in most cases much stricter than Pharisee interpretations of the law, and the Sadducees were the dominant authority at that time, yet the Gospels record no sign of Jesus having much disagreement with their views (although it was, according to the Gospels, the priests – aligned with the Sadducees – who ultimately arrested Jesus). A few modern scholars thus believe that Jesus may have been an Essene (a sect with whom he shared many views); and that later Christian transcribers cast him as an enemy of the Pharisees, because when Christians and Jews came into conflict in later years the Pharisees had become the dominant sect of Judaism. This view receives some support in Acts of the Apostles, because Jesus’ apostles were generally attacked by Sadducees but were sometimes protected by Pharisee liberal interpretations of Jewish law.

Jesus increasingly gained followers as his fame grew, though within his lifetime Jesus’ core following remained no more than a small religious sect. Jesus had by the time of his death taught a number of his disciples or apostles to preach his teachings and perform faith healing to both Jews and Gentiles alike.

In his role as a social reformer Jesus threatened the status quo. He was unpopular with many Jewish religious authorities. According to the Gospels, this was because he criticised them, and, moreover, because some of Jesus’ followers held the controversial and inflammatory view that he was “The Messiah”. It is not clear from strict analysis of the original Gospel texts that Jesus made this claim about himself, but he did not deny it. Neither is it wholly clear to scholars that when Jesus spoke of being “Son of God” he meant this to be taken literally as Christians believe, rather than metaphorically in the sense that we are all children of God. Scholars currently suggest that whether Jesus claimed to be a political rebel or not, Jewish authorities would very likely have feared that his activities would provoke a riot in Jerusalem – something Roman authorities absolutely forbade.

Jesus came with his followers to Jerusalem during the Passover festival. He was involved in a public disturbance at the Temple in Jerusalem when he overturned the tables of the moneychangers and broke open the cages of animals to be sacrificed. At some point later, he was betrayed to the Jewish religious authorities of the city – either the full council (Sanhedrin) or perhaps just the High Priest – by one of his apostles, Judas Iscariot. The High Priest of the city was appointed by the government in Rome and the current holder of the post was Joseph Caiphas. The Romans ruled the city through the High Priest and Sanhedrin, so often the Jewish authorities of the city had to arrest people in order to obey Roman orders to maintain the peace. Jesus’ disciples went into hiding after he was arrested.

Jesus was crucified by the Romans on the orders of Pontius Pilate, the Roman Governor of Judea in Jerusalem. The Gospels state that he did this at the behest of the Jewish religious leaders, but it may have been simply that Pilate considered Jesus’ ability to incite public disturbance as a potential Messiah to be a threat to Roman order. Pilate was known as a harsh ruler who ordered many executions for lesser reasons during his reign (then again, he’d been in trouble twice with his Roman superiors for being too harsh in his rule). Furthermore, the plaque placed on the cross was used by the Romans to detail the crime of the crucified individual. In the case of Jesus the plaque reads “Iesvs Nazarenvs Rex Ivdaeorvm” (INRI)—”Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews”, indicating that Jesus was crucified for the crime of rebelling against the authority of Rome by being declared the “King of the Jews”.

All the Gospel accounts agree that Joseph of Arimathea, variously a secret disciple or sympathiser to Jesus, and possible member of the Sanhedrin, arranged with Pilate for the body to be taken down and entombed. According to most accounts Jesus’ mother, Mary, and other women, notably a female follower of Jesus, Mary Magdalene, were present during this process.

FROM THE ESSENE BOOK OF JESUS
THE SEVENFOLD PEACE

Order a hard copy of Essene Seven Fold Peace

And seeing the multitudes, Jesus went up into a mountain, and his disciples came unto him, and all those who hungered for his words. And seeing them gathered, he opened his mouth and taught them, saying:

“Peace I bring to thee, my children,

The Sevenfold Peace

Of the Earthly Mother

And the Heavenly Father.

Peace I bring to thy body,

Guided by the Angel of Power; Peace I bring to thy heart,

Guided by the Angel of Love; Peace I bring to thy mind,

Guided by the Angel of Wisdom. Through the Angels of

Power, Love and Wisdom,

Thou shalt travel the Seven Paths

Of the Infinite Garden,

And thy body, thy heart and thy mind

Shall join in Oneness

In the Sacred Flight to the Heavenly Sea of Peace.

Yea, I tell thee truly,

The paths are seven

Trough the Infinite Garden,

And each must be traversed

By the body, the heart and the mind As one,

Lest thou stumble and fall

Into the abyss of emptiness.

For as a bird cannot fly with one wing,

So doth thy Bird of Wisdom

Need two wings of Power and Love

To soar above the abyss

To the Holy Tree of Life.

For the body alone

Is an abandoned house seen from afar:

What was thought beautiful

Is but ruin and desolation

When drawing near.

Are body alone

Is as a chariot fashioned from gold,

Whose maker sets it on a pedestal,

Loath to soil it with use.

But as a golden idol,

It is ugly and without grace,

For only in movement

Doth it reveal its purpose.

Like the hollow blackness of a window

When the wind puts out its candle,

Is the body alone,

With no heart and no mind

To fill it with light.

And the heart alone

is a sun with no earth to shine upon,

A light in the void,

A ball of warmth drowned

In a sea of blackness.

For when a man doth love,

Aat love turneth only to

Its own destruction

When there is no hand to stretch forth

In good works,

And no mind to weave the flames of desire

Into a tapestry of psalms.

Like a whirlwind in the desert

Is the heart alone,

With no body and no mind

To lead it singing

through the cypress and the pine.

And the mind alone

Is a holy scroll

Which has worn thin with the years,

And must be buried.

The truth and beauty of its words

Have not changed,

But the eyes can no longer read the faded letters,

And it falleth to pieces in the hands.

So is the mind without the heart

To give it words,

And without the body

To do its deeds.

For what availeth wisdom

Without a heart to feel

And a tongue to give it voice?

Barren as the womb of an aged woman

Is the mind alone,

With no heart and no body To fill it with life.

For, lo, I tell thee truly,

The body and the heart and the mind

Are as a chariot, and a horse, and a driver.

The chariot is the body,

Forged in strength to do the will

of the Heavenly Father

And the Earthly Mother.

The heart is the fiery steed,

Glorious and courageous,

Who carries the chariot bravely,

Whether the road be smooth,

Or whether stones and fallen trees

Lie in its path.

And the driver is the mind,

Holding the reins of wisdom,

Seeing from above what lieth

On the far horizon,

Charting the course of hoofs and wheels.

Give ear, O ye heavens,

And I will speak;

And hear, O earth,

The words of my mouth.

My doctrine shall drop as the rain,

My speech shall distil as the dew,

As the small rain

Upon the tender herb,

And as the showers upon the grass.

Blessed is the Child of Light

Who is strong in body,

For he shall have oneness with the earth.

Thou shalt celebrate a daily feast

With all the gifts of the Angel of Earth:

The golden wheat and corn,

T’he purple grapes of autumn,

The ripe fruits of the trees,

The amber honey of the bees.

Thou shalt seek the fresh air

of the forest and of the fields,

And there in the midst of them

Shalt thou find the Angel of Air.

Put off thy shoes and clothing

And suffer the Angel of Air

To embrace all thy body.

Then shalt thou breathe long and deeply,

That the Angel of Air

May be brought within thee.

Enter into the cool and flowing river

And suffer the Angel of Water

To embrace all thy body.

Cast thyself wholly into his enfolding arms,

And as often as thou movest the air with thy breath,

Move with thy body the water also.

T’hou shalt seek the Angel of Sun,

And enter into that embrace

Which doth purify with holy flames.

And all these things are of the

Holy Law of the Earthly Mother,

She who did give thee birth.

He who hath found peace with the body

Hath built a holy temple

Wherein may dwellforever

The spirit of God.

Know this peace with thy mind,

Desire this peace with thy heart,

Fulfill this peace with thy body.

Blessed is the Child of Light

Who is wise in mind,

For he shall create heaven.

The mind of the wise

Is a well-ploughed field,

Which giveth forth abundance and plenty.

For it thou showest a handful of seed

To a wise man,

He will see in his mind’s eye

A field of golden wheat.

And if thou showest a handful of seed

To a fool,

He will see only that which is before him,

And call them worthless pebbles.

And as the field of the wise man

Giveth forth grain in abundance,

And the field of the fool

Is a harvest only of stones,

So it is with our thoughts.

As the sheaf of golden wheat

Lieth hidden within the tiny kernel,

So is the kingdom of heaven

Hidden within our thoughts.

If they be filled with the

Power, Love and Wisdom

of the Angels of the Heavenly Father,

So they shall carry us

To the Heavenly Sea.

But if they be stained

With corruption, hatred and ignorance,

They shall chain our feet

To pillars of pain and suffering.

No man can serve two masters;

Neither can evil thoughts abide in a mind

Filled with the Light of the Law.

He who hath found peace with the rnind

Hath leamed to soar beyond

The Realm of the Angels.

Know this peace with thy mind,

Desire this peace with thy heart,

Fulfill this peace with thy body.

Blessed is the Child of Light

Who is pure in heart,

For he shall see God.

For as the Heavenly Father hath given thee

His holy spirit,

And thy Earthly Mother hath given thee

Her holy body,

So shall ye give love

To all thy brothers.

And thy true brothers are all those

Who do the will of thy Heavenly Father

An d thy Earthly Mother.

Let thy love be as the sun

Which shines on all the creatures of the earth,

And does not favor one blade of grass

For another.

And this love shall flow as a fountain

From brother to brother,

And as it is spent,

So shall it be replenished.

For love is eternal.

Love is stronger

Than the currents of deep waters.

Love is stronger than death.

And if a man hath not love,

He doth build a wall between him

And all the creatures of the earth,

And therein doth he dwell

In loneliness and pain.

Or he may become as an angry whirlpool

Which sucks into its depths

All that floats too near.

For the heart is a sea with mighty waves,

And love and wisdom must temper it,

As the warm sun breaks through the clouds

And quiets the restless sea.

He who hath found peace with his brothers

Hath entered the kingdom of Love,

And shall see God face to face.

Know this peace with thy mind,

Desire this peace with thy heart,

Fulfill this peace with thy body.

Blessed is the Child of Light

Who doth build on earth

Thekingdom of heaven,

For he shall dwell in both worlds.

Thou shalt follow the Law of the Brotherhood,

Which saith that none shall have wealth,

And none shall be poor,

And all shall work together

In the garden of the Brotherhood.

Yet each shall follow his own path,

And each shall commune with his own heart.

For in the Infinite Garden

There are many and diverse flowers:

Who shall say that one is best

Because its color is purple,

Or that one is favored

Because its stalk is long and slender?

Though the brothers

Be of different complexion,

Yet do they all toil

In the vineyard of the Earthly Mother,

And they all do lift their voices together

In praise of the Heavenly Father.

And together they break the holy bread,

And in silence share the holy meal

Of thanksgiving.

There shall be no peace among peoples

Til there be one garden of the brotherhood

Over the earth.

For how can there be peace

When each man pursueth his own gain

And doth sell his soul into slavery?

Thou, Child of Light,

Do ye gather with thy brothers

And then go ye forth

To teach the ways of the Law

To those who would hear.

He who hath found peace

With the brotherhood of man

Hath made himself

The co-worker of God

Know this peace with thy mind,

Desire this peace with thy heart,

Fulfill this peace with thy body.

Blessed is the Child of Light

Who doth study the Book of the Law,

For he shall be as a candle

In the dark of night,

And an island of truth

In a sea of falsehood

For know ye, that the written word

Which cometh from God

Is a reflection of the Heavenly Sea,

Even as the bright stars

Reflect the face of heaven.

As the words of the Ancient Ones

Are etched with the hand of God

On the Holy Scrolls,

So is the Law engraved on the hearts of the faithful who do study them.

For it was said Of old,

That in the beginning there were giants

In the earth,

And mighty men which were of old,

Men Of renown.

And the Children of Light

Shall guard and preserve

Their written word,

Lest we become again as beasts,

And know not the Kingdom of the Angels.

Know ye, too,

That only through the written word

shalt thou find that Law

Which is unwritten,

As the spring which floweth from the ground

Hath a hidden source in the secret depths beneath the earth.

The written Law

Is the instrument by which

The unwritten Law is understood,

As the mute branch of a tree

Becomes a singing flute

In the hands of the shepherd.

Many there are

Who would stay in the tranquil

Valley of ignorance,

Where children play

And butterflies dance in the sun

For their short hour of life.

But none can tarry there long,

And ahead rise the somber

Mountains of learning.

Many there are

Who fear to cross,

And many there are

Who have fallen bruised and bleeding

From their steep and rugged slopes.

But faith is the guide

Over the gaping chasm,

And perseverance the foothold In the jagged rocks.

Beyond the icy peaks of struggle

Lies the peace and beauty

Of the Infinite Garden of Knowledge,

Where the meaning of the Law

Is made known to the Children of Light.

Here in the center of its forest

Stands the Tree of Life,

Mystery of mysteries.

He who hath found peace

With the teachings of the Ancients,

Through the light of the mind,

Through the light of nature,

And through the study of the Holy Word,

Hath entered the cloud-filled

Hall of the Ancients,

Where dwelleth the Holy Brotherhood,

of whom no man may speak.

Know this peace with thy mind,

Desire this peace with thy heart,

Fulfill this peace with thy body.

Blessed is the Child of Light

Who knoweth his Earthly Mother,

For she is the giver of life.

Know that thy Mother is in thee,

And thou art in her.

She bore thee

And she giveth thee life.

She it was who gaveth thee thy body,

And to her shalt thou one day

Give it back again.

Know that the blood which runs in thee

is born of the blood

Of thy Earthly Mother.

Her blood falls from the clouds,

Leaps up from the womb of the earth,

Babbles in the brooks of the mountains,

Flows wide in the rivers of the plains,

Sleeps in the lakes,

Rages mightily in the tempestuous seas.

Know that the air which thou dost breathe

Is born of the breath

Of thy Earthly Mother.

Her breath is azure

In the heights of the heavens,

Soughs in the tops of the mountains,

Whispers in the leaves of the forest,

Billows over the cornfields,

Slumbers in the deep valleys,

Bums hot in the desert.

Know that the hardness of thy bones

Is born of the bones

Of thy Earthly Mother,

Of the rocks and of the stones.

Know that the tenderness of thy flesh

Is born of the flesh

Of thy Earthly Mother,

She whose flesh waxeth yellow and red

In the fruits of the trees.

The light of thy eyes,

The hearing of thy ears,

These are born

Of the colors and the sounds

Of thy Earthly Mother,

Which doth enclose thee about,

As the waves of the sea enclose a fish,

As the eddying air a bird.

I tell thee in truth,

Man is the Son

Of the Earthly Mother,

And from her did the Son of Man

Receive his whole body,

Even as the body of the newborn babe

Is born of the womb of his mother.

I tell thee truly,

Thou art one with the Earthly Mother;

She is in thee, and thou art in her.

Of her wert thou born,

In her dost thou live,

And to her shalt thou return again.

Keep, therefore, her laws,

For none can live long,

Neither be happy,

But he who honors his Earthly Mother

And keepeth her laws.

For thy breath is her breath,

Thy blood her blood,

Thy bone her bone,

Thy flesh her flesh,

Thy eyes and thy ears

Are her eyes and her ears.

He who hath found peace

With his Earthly Mother

Shall never know death.

Know this peace with thy mind,

Desire this peace with thy heart,

Blessed is the Child of Light

Who doth seek his Heavenly Father,

For he shall have eternal life.

He that dwelleth in the secret place

Of the Most High

Shall abide under the shadow

of the Almighty.

For he shall give his Angels charge over thee,

To keep thee in all thy ways.

Know ye that the Lord hath been

our dwelling place

In all generations.

Before the mountains were brought forth,

Or ever he had formed

The earth and the world,

Even from everlasting to everlasting,

Hath there been love

Between the Heavenly Father

And his children.

And how shall this love be severed?

From the beginning

Until the ending of time

Doth the holy flame of love

Encircle the heads

Of the Heavenly Father

And the Children of Light:

How then shall this love be extinguished?

Ye that love thy Heavenly Father,

Do ye then his bidding:

Walk ye with his Holy Angels,

And find thy peace with his Holy Law.

For his Law is the entire Law:

Yea, it is the Law of laws.

Through his Law he hath made

The earth and the heavens to be one;

The mountains and the sea

Are his footstools.

With his hands he hath made us

And fashioned us,

And he gaveth us understanding

That we may learn his Law.

He is covered with Light

As with a garment:

He stretcheth out the heavens

Like a curtain.

He maketh the clouds his chariot;

He walketh upon the wings of the wind.

He sendeth the springs into the valleys,

And his breath is in the mighty trees.

In his hand are the deep places of the earth:

The strength of the hills is his also.

T’he sea is his,

And his hands formed the dry land.

All the heavens declare the Glory of God,

And the firmament showeth his Law.

And to his children

Doth he bequeath his Kingdom,

To those who walk with his Angels,

And find their peace with his Holy Law.

Wouldst thou know more, my children?

How may we speak with our lips

That which cannot be spoken?

It is like a pomegranate eaten by a mute:

How then may he tell of its flavor?

If we say the Heavenly Father

Dwelleth within us,

Then are the heavens ashamed;

If we say he dwelleth without us,

It is falsehood.

The eye which scanneth the far horizon

And the eye which seeth the hearts of men

He maketh as one eye.

He is not manifest,

He is not hidden.

He is not revealed,

Nor is he unrevealed.

My children, there are no words

To tell that which he is!

Only this do we know:

We are his children,

And he is our Father.

He is our God,

And we are the children of his pasture,

And the sheep of his hand.

He who hath found peace

With his Heavenly Father

Hath entered the Sanctuary

of the Holy Law,

And hath made a covenant with God

Which shall endure forever.

Know this peace with thy mind,

Desire this peace with thy heart,

Fulfill this peace with thy body,

Though heaven and earth may pass away,

Not one letter of the Holy Law

Shall change or pass away.

For in the beginning was the Law,

And the Law was with God,

And the Law was God.

May the Sevenfold Peace

Of the Heavenly Father

Be with thee always.

===25TH LETTER IN SOKA GAKKAI BUDDHIST DICTIONARY: “Z”

zazen [坐禅] (Jpn): Seated meditation. The term zazen specifically indicates the form of seated meditation practiced in the Zen school of Buddhism. The practice of zazen is emphasized especially in the Sōtō school of Zen in Japan. Seated meditation was widely practiced in ancient India. Shakyamuni Buddha sat in meditation when he attained enlightenment under the bodhi tree, and incorporated the practice into his teachings. Seated meditation was introduced with Buddhism to China, where various Buddhist schools employed it. T’ien-t’ai (538–597) taught it as core to the integrated system of disciplines he prescribed for observing the true nature of one’s mind.

Chapter Twenty-five: The Universal Gateway of the Bodhisattva Perceiver of the World’s Sounds
Five important points

Point One, concerning the bodhisattva Inexhaustible Intent

The Record of the Orally Transmitted Teachings says: The name Inexhaustible Intent (Mu-jin-ni) stands for the perfect unification of the three truths. The element mu, or “not,” represents the truth of non-substantiality; the element jin, or “exhaustible,” represents the truth of temporary existence; and the element ni (or i), or “intent,” represents the truth of the Middle Way.
In the name Perceiver of the World’s Sounds (Kan-ze-on) the element kan, or “perceiver,” represents the truth of non-substantiality; the element ze, or “world,” represents the truth of temporary existence; and the element on, or “sounds,” represents the truth of the Middle Way.
In the words Myoho-renge-kyo, or the Lotus Sutra of the Wonderful Law, the element myō, or “wonderful,” represents the truth of non-substantiality; the element hō-renge, or “the lotus of the law,” represents the truth of temporary existence; and kyō, or “sutra,” represents the truth of the Middle Way.
In this chapter the wonderful principle of the Dharma nature that is embodied in the three truths is being expressed in terms of the three truths of the bodhisattva Perceiver of the World’s Sounds p.179and the three truths of the bodhisattva Inexhaustible Intent.
Now when Nichiren and his followers chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, they are acting as the Inexhaustible Intent of the Latter Day of the Law. Thus we may say that the element mu in the name Mujinni, or Inexhaustible Intent, is the sign of our death, the element jin is the sign of our birth, and the element ni or i is the root or source of our life force. For this reason, all the various doctrines, such as the doctrine of the fusion of reality and wisdom, are contained in this single word i, or “intent.” This “intent” represents the Dharma nature or the Middle Way. The Dharma nature represents Nam-myoho-renge-kyo. These five characters1 are the “intent” of the Lotus Sutra.
In terms of the five stages of development of the fetus in the womb, the character i, or “intent,” corresponds to the fifth stage, that of bodily form. Hence the form of a being in the fifth stage corresponds to the five elements of earth, water, fire, wind, and space, and the five elements in turn correspond to the five characters of Myoho-renge-kyo.
These five characters are also expressed in the single character i or “intent.” The intent or meaning of the Buddha is the five characters of Myoho-renge-kyo. It is nothing but this. The intent of the Buddha is the Lotus Sutra. This is the “good medicine” described in the “Life Span” chapter, the good medicine favored by all the Buddhas of the three existences.
All the countless phenomena of the three thousand realms are nothing more than this single character i, or “intent.” And to have faith in this intent of the Buddha is what is meant by the mind of faith. The element of mind has its various divisions or categories, but all are completely encompassed in the entirety of the Wonderful Law.

p.180Point Two, concerning the bodhisattva Perceiver of the World’s Sounds represented by “wonderful”

The Record of the Orally Transmitted Teachings says: The term “Wonderful Law” in Sanskrit is saddharma. Sad (the phonetic change of sat) may be translated as “wonderful.” This syllable sad is the seed, or the mystical syllable, that represents the bodhisattva Perceiver of the World’s Sounds. Hence a commentary says that Perceiver of the World’s Sounds and the Lotus Sutra are simply different names for the same thing, like the words gen and moku, both of which mean “eye.” Now that we have entered the Latter Day of the Law, the benefits Nichiren and his followers enjoy in their chanting of Nam-myoho-renge-kyo are as far above those conferred by Perceiver of the World’s Sounds as heaven is above earth or clouds are above mud.
In general we may say that the element kan, or Perceiver, in the name Kanzeon represents enkan, or “perfect perception.” The element ze, or World, means “miraculous,” while the element on, or Sounds, refers to the capacity for attaining Buddhahood. Kan is another name for the Dharma-realm; hence, as already stated, it stands for perfect perception. And because Perceiver of the World’s Sounds is a perceiver of the true aspect of all phenomena, he can see and understand the different realms such as those of hell, hungry spirits, animals, etc. that make up this miraculous world.
On, or Sounds, refers to the sounds of the true aspect of all phenomena, and hence it means that there are no living beings that do not possess the true aspect of Buddhahood. This has been referred to, in the “Life Span” chapter, as the original state endowed with the Ten Worlds, the three bodies with which the Buddha is eternally endowed.
The bodhisattva Perceiver of the World’s Sounds has already accepted the Lotus Sutra reverentially. And now the practitioners, who accept and uphold this sutra, can enjoy benefits that surpass even those of the bodhisattva.

p.181Point Three, on the passage “Wonderful sound, Perceiver of the World’s Sounds, / Brahmā’s sound, the sea tide sound— / they surpass those sounds of the world; / therefore you should constantly think on them, / from thought to thought never entertaining doubt!”

The Record of the Orally Transmitted Teachings says: In the phrase “from thought to thought,” the first “thought” stands for the six paths or lower realms of unenlightened beings, while the second “thought” stands for the four noble realms. The meaning is that the benefits of Perceiver of the World’s Sounds are bestowed on beings in both the six paths and in the four noble realms. One is told never to entertain doubt on this point.
Again, the phrase “from thought to thought” can refer to the former thought and the latter thought. Or again, it may be cautioning us that we are never to entertain doubt in regard to our thoughts on the Wonderful Law.
Or again, it may refer to the succession of thoughts or moments of life that constantly abides throughout the three existences of past, present, and future. This is what is meant by the words that come earlier, “For this reason, living beings should constantly keep the thought [of the Wonderful Law] in mind.”
Now when Nichiren and his followers chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, they should abide in the mind of faith that “from thought to thought never entertains doubt.” Earthly desires are enlightenment, the sufferings of birth and death are nirvana—one should have no doubts concerning this.

Point Four, on the passage “If a woman wishes to give birth to a male child, she should offer obeisance and alms to Bodhisattva Perceiver of the World’s Sounds and then she will bear a son blessed with merit, virtue, and wisdom. And if she wishes to bear a daughter, she will bear one with all the marks of comeliness, one who in the past planted the roots of virtue and is loved and respected by many persons.”

p.182The Record of the Orally Transmitted Teachings says: The two wishes referred to here are the wish for a son and the wish for a daughter. The wish for a daughter stands for the wish for worldly reward and recompense; the wish for a son stands for the wish for spiritual rewards. Accordingly, peace and security in one’s present existence is the virtue that pertains to the wish for a daughter, while good circumstances in one’s future existences is the virtue that pertains to the wish for a son.
The wish for a daughter is represented by the dragon king’s daughter and her attainment of Buddhahood, which makes manifest the principle that the sufferings of birth and death are nirvana. The wish for a son is represented by Devadatta’s attainment of Buddhahood, which makes manifest the principle that earthly desires are enlightenment. And these two examples in turn make manifest the principle that one may attain Buddhahood in one’s present form.
Now when Nichiren and his followers as practitioners of the Lotus Sutra chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, they are fulfilling both the wish for a son and the wish for a daughter and are assuring the attainment of Buddhahood for both their fathers and mothers.

Point Five, concerning the thirty-three bodies or bodily transformations that Bodhisattva Perceiver of the World’s Sounds undergoes in order to benefit living beings

The Record of the Orally Transmitted Teachings says: The number “thirty” stands for the doctrine of three thousand realms [in a single moment of life]. The “three bodies” stand for the doctrine of the three truths.
Again we may say regarding the thirty-three bodies or bodily transformations that, if one is endowed with the three bodies in each of the Ten Worlds, this constitutes thirty bodies, and if the original three bodies are then added in, we have a total of thirty-three bodies.
Generally speaking, [concerning thirty or “three multiplied by ten”], the number three stands for the three categories of action, p.183namely, actions of the body, mouth, and mind or physical, verbal, and mental actions; while the number ten stands for the Ten Worlds. The number three [of thirty-three] may stand for the three poisons of greed, anger, and foolishness. The word “bodies” represents the bodies of all living beings.
Now when Nichiren and his followers chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, they are enjoying the benefits of the thirty-three bodies or bodily transformations.

Notes

1. Nichiren often regards the words Myoho-renge-kyo as the equivalent of Nam-myoho-renge-kyo. While Myoho-renge-kyo consists of five Chinese characters, Nam-myoho-renge-kyo consists of seven. In his writing The Daimoku of the Lotus Sutra, for instance, Nichiren mentions “the five or seven characters of Nam-myoho-renge-kyo” (The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, the Soka Gakkai, page 141).

25 Banishment to Sado

ON the twelfth day of the ninth month, I incurred the wrath of the government authorities, and on the tenth day of the tenth month of this year, I am to leave for the province of Sado.
From the beginning, I pursued my studies because I wanted to master Buddhism and attain Buddhahood, and also to save the people to whom I am indebted. It seems to me that on the path to attain Buddhahood it may invariably be when one has done something like lay down one’s life that one becomes a Buddha. I think that perhaps it is encountering such difficulties as have already been explained in the sutra—being cursed, vilified, attacked with swords and staves, shards and rubble, and banished again and again—that is reading the Lotus Sutra with one’s life. My faith springs up all the more, and I am confident about my next existence. If I should die, I will definitely also save each of you.
In India a man called the Venerable Āryasimha was beheaded by King Dammira, and Bodhisattva Āryadeva was murdered by a non-Buddhist. In China, a man named Chu Tao-sheng was banished to a mountain in a place called Su-chou, and the Tripitaka Master Fa-tao was branded on the face and exiled to a place south of the Yangtze River. All these were because of the virtue of the Lotus Sutra, and because of the Buddhist teachings.
Nichiren is the son of a chandāla family who lived near the sea in Tōjō in Awa Province, in the remote countryside of the eastern part of Japan. How could giving up a body that will decay uselessly for the sake of the Lotus Sutra not be exchanging rocks for gold? None of you should lament for me. Please convey what I have said to the Reverend Dōzen-bō, too. I have also thought of writing to the wife of the lord of the manor,1 but because of my present circumstances, she may no longer wish to be reminded of me. Should the opportunity arise, please tell her what I have said.

The tenth month

p.203

Background
Nichiren Daishonin wrote this letter in the tenth month of the eighth year of Bun’ei (1271), just before he left for his exile on Sado Island. At that time, he was being held at the mainland residence of Homma Rokurō Saemon, the deputy constable of Sado. The Daishonin wrote the letter to an acquaintance at Seichō-ji temple in Awa Province, possibly a priest named Enjō-bō.
Exile to Sado Island was a harsh punishment, second only to the death penalty. In this letter the Daishonin declares that he has met this persecution solely for the sake of the Lotus Sutra; he emphasizes that the very fact that it has happened demonstrates that he is “reading” the Lotus Sutra with his life. Since the Daishonin seeks to dispel doubts among his followers and revive their flagging courage by pointing out his mission as the votary of the Lotus Sutra in the Latter Day, this letter may be said to foreshadow The Opening of the Eyes, a major treatise he wrote four months later.

Note
1. Reference here is to the lay nun of Nagoe. The wife of Hōjō Tomotoki, a younger brother of the third Kamakura regent and lord of Nagasa District in Awa Province, where the Daishonin was born. After the Daishonin entered the priesthood, the lay nun apparently assisted his parents in some way, and he therefore felt indebted to her; moreover, she was one of his first converts. Her resolve was not firm, however, and she abandoned her faith around the time of the Tatsunokuchi Persecution. Later, she resumed her practice and requested a Gohonzon from the Daishonin, but he refused.
197:

WITH regard to the official announcement that arrived from the Mongol nation, I have respectfully submitted my views to the regent in writing. The prophecies that I, Nichiren, made some years ago in my treatise, On Establishing the Correct Teaching for the Peace of the Land, have been fulfilled without the slightest discrepancy. Nevertheless, I have once again submitted petitions in hopes of dispelling the gloom and foreboding that hang over us. I have sent these flags of warning to the public authorities, and have challenged various private parties to engage with me in debate.
You are a veritable roof beam of the nation, you act as hands and feet for the multitude of people. How can you fail to be distressed by the downfall that threatens our land? How can you be unconcerned?
You must therefore act with haste to correct the situation and to punish those who are guilty of slandering the correct teaching!
The Lotus Sutra of the Wonderful Law, the single vehicle, embodies the ultimate truth of the correct enlightenment of the Buddhas; it is the food that sustains the majesty of the heavenly gods and benevolent deities. How could one who embraces and has faith in it ever be visited by the seven disasters and the three calamities? But for simply stating this fact, I, Nichiren, have been condemned to exile. How could the sun and moon, the stars and constellations, refrain from punishing such an act?
Prince Shōtoku overthrew Moriya, the evil opponent of Buddhism, and caused the teachings of the Buddha to prosper; Hidesato defeated the rebel Masakado1 and left his name for later generations to remember. And if you will do likewise, curbing the power of those temples and priests you have supported in the past, who are in fact sworn enemies of the Lotus Sutra, then the benevolent deities will surely grant you their aid and protection.
The Formulary of Adjudications2 makes it abundantly clear that unprincipled actions are to be curbed and brought to an end. Why, then, have my anguished petitions not been heeded? Does this not violate the pledge of fidelity that appears at the end of Formulary of Adjudications?
I have taken the liberty of writing letters to this effect to various persons, eleven letters in all, addressed to the lord of Kamakura [the regent Hōjō Tokimune]; to the lay priest Yadoya; to the chief priests of Kenchō-ji, Jufuku-ji, Gokuraku-ji, Daibutsu-den, Chōraku-ji, Tahō-ji, and Jōkōmyō-ji;3 to Hōjō Yagenta;4 and to you with this p.319letter. Each of the parties addressed will surely submit the matter to discussion, and I am hopeful of receiving speedy responses from all.
If so, then Pien Ho’s rough stone may be polished to reveal a beautiful gem,5 and the priceless jewel concealed in the topknot of the Dharma king6 may at that time come to light.
I do not say this for my own sake. It is for the sake of the gods, for the sake of the ruler, for the sake of the nation, and for the sake of all living beings that I make bold to speak out in this fashion.
With my deep respect,
Nichiren

One of eleven letters of remonstrance, this is addressed to Hei no Saemon-no-jō Yoritsuna, also known as Taira no Yoritsuna. (Hei is an alternative pronunciation of the character Taira). He was the deputy chief of the Office of Military and Police Affairs of the Kamakura shogunate. The chief was the regent, Hōjō Tokimune.

Notes
1. Fujiwara no Hidesato joined forces with Taira no Sadamori, a cousin of Taira no Masakado, to defeat Masakado. Masakado was a distinguished warrior of the Taira clan who exercised great power in eastern Japan. He attacked government offices in Kanto and adopted the title of “New Emperor,” in late 939, but shortly thereafter his forces were routed, and he was killed by Sadamori and Hidesato.
2. One of the most important law codes in Japanese history, which the Kamakura government established for its warrior vassals in the first year of Jōei (1232). This formulary, composed of 51 articles, remained effective from the thirteenth through the mid-nineteenth centuries.
3. Chōraku-ji was a large temple of the Pure Land school and one of the seven major temples in Kamakura. For Kenchō-ji, Jufuku-ji, and Gokuraku-ji, see Glossary, and for Daibutsu-den, Tahō-ji, and Jōkōmyō-ji, see p. 316, n. 1.
4. Hōjō Yagenta, an official who belonged to the ruling Hōjō clan and a lay follower of the Daishonin in Kamakura. He was a recipient in 1274 of The Swords of Good and Evil (I, p. 451), and in 1268 of one of the eleven letters of remonstrance from the Daishonin.
5. Pien Ho was a native of the state of Ch’u in China during the Spring and Autumn period (770–403 b.c.e.). According to Han Fei Tzu, he found a precious stone at Mount Ching and presented it to King Li. When the king had it appraised, it was identified as a mere stone. As punishment, the king had Pien Ho’s left leg cut off at the knee. After the king’s death, Pien Ho again presented the precious stone, this time to King Wu. Once again he was accused of deception and had his right leg cut off at the knee. Later, after King Wen had ascended the throne, Pien Ho wept for three days at the foot of Mount Ch’u, holding the precious stone and shedding tears of blood because of the king’s ignorance. Hearing of this, King Wen asked for Pien Ho’s stone and had it polished. It was then recognized as being a genuine gem.
6. This story appears in chapter fourteen of the Lotus Sutra. The “priceless jewel” indicates the one Buddha vehicle.

His vast oath is deep as the ocean;
kalpas pass but it remains unfathomable.
Wonderful sounds, Perceiver of the World’s Sounds,
brahma sounds, the sea tide sound—
they surpass the other sounds of the world;
therefore you should constantly think on them
from thought to thought never entertaining doubt!
Perceiver of the World’s Sounds, pure sage—
to those in suffering, in danger of death,
he can offer aid and support.
Endowed with all benefits,
he views living beings with compassionate eyes.
The sea of his accumulated blessings is immeasurable;
therefore you should bow your head to him!
